Student With Computer Engineer and Law Degrees Discusses Why He Chose Quality Fly

Below is an interview from another one of our accomplished students, Muhammad Bashir.

Muhammed had a unique path to our flight school, as you will find out by watching the interview. He graduated from high school very early, and always wanted to be a pilot. But his father encouraged him to get some more experience in the world prior to enrolling in flight school and going full speed ahead with the pilot career path. He then went on to get degrees in in both computer engineering and law, making him one of the most well educated students we have had at our school.

He says that he chose to come to Madrid to study because it was a very diverse and cosmopolitan city. It also gave him a chance to learn a new language, Spanish as he already spoke three languages.

One of the things he appreciated about Quality Fly was the diversity of the student body. There were close to 40 different nations represented by his peers at the Quality Fly training facility. This gave him the chance to experience a lot of different cultures.

The Quality Fly Advantages

As to the reasons for choosing Quality Fly, one of the main considerations was the fact the course was given in English despite being located in the Spanish city of Madrid.  He said it was an amazing ground school and that the instructors are very good.  He lived next to the airport which made taking flights convenient, and he also shared living facilities with other students that gave them the opportunity to help each other with motivation and other aspects of the training.

His advice was the EASA licensing program was a great opportunity for people looking to become a pilot.

Why Train in Madrid, Spain

In the following video, one of Quality Fly’s instructors discusses why it beneficial for someone to carry out their flight training in Madrid, Spain.

Some of the highlights of the video include:

Advantage #1: You Are Flying In The Same Airspace as a Major International Airport

Quality Fly students fly out of Madrid’s Cuatro Vientos Airport. Barajas Airport is on the other side of Madrid and is a major international airport. As a result the airspace around both airports is quite complex, which allows students real world experience navigating under such conditions.

Advantage #2: Cuatro Vientos Airport Is Quite Busy

There are a lot of other flight schools located out of Cuatro Vientos. As a result, the amount of traffic through the airport is quite high. Students then get experience interfacing with air traffic control and adjusting to the busy airport. Again, this is a valuable experience for any student as opposed to flying out of an airport in the middle of no where with only a few flight schools using the airport.

Advantage #3: Surrounded By A Diverse Geography

Let’s face it, one of the reasons that people enjoy flying is the view from above. Around the Madrid Metropolitan area, you get a little bit of everything with varied geographical highlights. To the north of Madrid you get to fly over quite high mountains. South of the mountains the topography is quite flat. And then south of that you get to see a lot of lakes and reserves. So there is a little bit of everything to catch from your chair sitting in the clouds.

Advantage #4: Madrid Is In The Center Of Spain

As a result, there are a lot of other airports surrounding Cuatro Vientos all within a short flying distance. A student can then practice traveling to a variety of other airports and get the experience of operating out of different environments. Again, this only enhances the experience for the student.

Some Bonuses Not Mentioned In The Video

These are not the only advantages of training in Madrid. As a major cosmopolitan European capital, there are a variety of things to do in Madrid. It is a great place to spend your spare time and soak up the culture. If you wanted to learn a new language, you can practice your Spanish around the locals while also increasing your English proficiency in the Quality Fly classrooms.

Don’t forget the weather! About 300 days of sun in a 365 day year means more days when you get the opportunity to fly under optimal conditions. You cannot say the same about the dreary conditions in some places like the United Kingdom.

Quality Fly Testimonial and Review – Ryan Stock Who Received His ATPL in Only 12 months!

Here we have posted an interview with Ryan Stock, a recent student of Quality Fly aviation academy.

One of the wonderful things about Ryan’s experience is that he was able to achieve his ATPL EASA license in only 12 months, from July 2018 to July 2019.  Prior to entering Quality Fly, Ryan had absolutely ZERO experience in aviation.  He was starting completely fresh.  To our knowledge this is the first time anyone has ever achieved an EASA commercial license from ground zero in terms of experience in 12 months.  Normally the training is 16-24 months at other schools, with a few aviation schools such as Quality Fly facilitate students completing the journey in as little as 14 months.  Ryan, however, did it in only 12 months!

Quality Fly, an innovator in aviation training, revamped its training to allow students to achieve milestones such as this.  One of the things that Ryan mentions in this interview is that Quality Fly allowed him to progress at his own pace as he was highly motivated to achieve his pilot’s license as soon as possible.  When he proved that he was able to move to the next step in training, he was allowed to and not held back by arbitrary standards of how fast an individual should progress.  Quality Fly understands that each individual is different and any training program must be tailored appropriately.  Some people simply can absorb the material and training faster than others, and these students are not held back.

At the same time, as also mentioned in the video, Quality Fly is strict on its exam criteria and will not advance students if they are not ready.  It is important for the safety of the student and any passengers they might be flying with that they are truly ready when it is time to take the cockpit.  As a result, Quality Fly has the highest exam pass rate at Cuatro Vientos airport and perhaps all of Spain as Ryan mentions in the video.   He also mentions that at the time of his graduation all of Quality Fly’s past students had job offers as they were well prepared for the workplace.  Airlines appreciate the training that Quality Fly has produced.  All 8 of the student’s in Ryan’s classes had interviews with Volotea Airlines, who Quality Fly has a partnership with.

Why Ryan Chose Quality Fly

One of the big draws for Ryan was being able to fly in Madrid Spain.  The weather is great in the area with close to 300 sunny days per year, allowing one to get more hours of flight in within a shorter period of time.  This is one of the other factors that allows someone to complete an accelerated ATPL program at Quality Fly.  Ryan also mentioned that the lifestyle was good and that the flight school prices were good as well (with Quality Fly being the lowest priced complete ATPL program in all of Europe to our knowledge).

Ryan also found it appealing that Quality Fly allowed him to progress at his own speed, and obviously, he took advantage of that fact by achieving his ATPL license in only 12 months.

Hard Work Pays Off

He did put in a lot of work to get there though.  He spent 10-12 hours a day studying 7 days a week.  That was in addition to the time he spent in the air completing his required flying hours.

Ryan said that he found studying with fellow students in common areas helped him in his progress.  Students in such an environment get to aid each other, and as he mentions, teaching is often one of the most effective ways of learning.

Recommendations for Future Aviation Students

Ryan said the most important thing is to do your homework.  Visit the school.  Go to the Open Days and get to know the instructors and the management team.   Speak with current students check the graduation rate, as well as the percentage of people able to find jobs after training.  Ryan said he would be willing to speak to any students who wanted to ask him questions about Quality Fly in particular.
